Risk & Compliance Solicitor – Taunton

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Solicitor to join the Risk & Compliance function of a leading Top 100 UK law firm, recognised by the Legal 500 and known for delivering high-quality legal services across a diverse range of practice areas.

As part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, you will play an important role in helping the firm maintain strong regulatory standards, effective risk management processes and robust governance procedures. Working with colleagues across both legal and business services teams, you will provide practical compliance support while contributing to the firm’s wider risk strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing guidance on regulatory obligations and compliance matters across the business
  • Assisting with conflicts, client due diligence and onboarding procedures
  • Reviewing terms of engagement and other contractual documentation
  • Supporting the management of complaints, professional negligence issues and regulatory enquiries
  • Delivering training sessions and compliance updates to colleagues
  • Contributing to policy development, internal reviews and audit activities
  • Keeping abreast of regulatory changes and ensuring key updates are communicated effectively
  • Participating in projects relating to governance, risk, compliance and emerging legal technologies, including AI

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a broad range of stakeholders and make a meaningful contribution to the firm’s approach to risk and regulatory compliance.

Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally possess:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales with a minimum of 2 years’ PQE
  • Previous experience working within a regulated law firm
  • Solid understanding of SRA Standards and Regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience providing guidance, support and constructive challenge to colleagues
  • A pragmatic, commercially minded and proactive approach
  • An interest in legal innovation, technology and the regulatory impact of AI

While experience in a dedicated risk and compliance role would be beneficial, it is not essential.
