Client Details
My client are a well-established business operating in Eastbourne. They are looking for a new permanent member to join the established Finance team.
Description
As the Accounts Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

Processing Invoices:
- Accurately inputting supplier and customer invoices into the accounting system.
- Verifying the accuracy of invoice details, such as amounts and payment terms.
- Ensuring invoices are authorised and coded correctly.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Monitoring and following up on outstanding invoices.
- Reconciling supplier statements and handling queries related to payments.
- Preparing and processing payments to suppliers.

Bank Reconciliation:
- Regularly reconciling bank statements with company records.
- Identifying discrepancies and resolving them promptly.

Credit Control:
- Monitoring customer accounts to identify overdue balances and taking action to recover debts.
- Contacting customers via phone, email, or letters to follow up on outstanding payments.
- Negotiating payment plans and maintaining records of agreed payment terms.
- Assessing new customer creditworthiness using credit checks and setting appropriate credit limits.
- Reporting on aged debtors and escalating problem accounts to management when necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of credit control activities and customer communications.
Profile
To be successful in your application for Accounts Assistant, you should be:
- Previous experience in a similar role (Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Credit Control).
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to build both internal and external relationships.
- Familiarity with Accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop skills.
