Client Details

My client are a well-established business operating in Eastbourne. They are looking for a new permanent member to join the established Finance team.

Description

As the Accounts Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing Invoices:

    • Accurately inputting supplier and customer invoices into the accounting system.
    • Verifying the accuracy of invoice details, such as amounts and payment terms.
    • Ensuring invoices are authorised and coded correctly.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:

    • Monitoring and following up on outstanding invoices.
    • Reconciling supplier statements and handling queries related to payments.
    • Preparing and processing payments to suppliers.
  • Bank Reconciliation:

    • Regularly reconciling bank statements with company records.
    • Identifying discrepancies and resolving them promptly.
  • Credit Control:

    • Monitoring customer accounts to identify overdue balances and taking action to recover debts.
    • Contacting customers via phone, email, or letters to follow up on outstanding payments.
    • Negotiating payment plans and maintaining records of agreed payment terms.
    • Assessing new customer creditworthiness using credit checks and setting appropriate credit limits.
    • Reporting on aged debtors and escalating problem accounts to management when necessary.
    • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of credit control activities and customer communications.

Profile

To be successful in your application for Accounts Assistant, you should be:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Credit Control).
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to build both internal and external relationships.
  • Familiarity with Accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop skills.
